IBM unveiled two new cloud computing offering for Enterprises last week. The new service is called IBM Smart Business that provides hosted tools and services for two tasks: virtual desktop management, and application development and testing. The new services are available on cloud infrastructures which was developed by IBM behind a customer’s firewall. Additionally, IBM has also released CloudBurst appliances to facilitate development and testing task.
As per the report of Redmonk Analyst, dedicated development and testing servers are associated with huge amount of expenses for enterprises. The new cloud services from IBM is going to cut down the cost significantly.
“As far as the enterprise is concerned, cloud [computing] is the new VMware, and IBM wants a fat slice this time,” said RedMonk analyst James Governor, via e-mail.
