Economic Downturn is the Best Time for Internet Startup: Digg
Digg founder Kevin Rose outlined at Web 2.0 summit that the span of financial crisis is ideal time to launch a startup. He also said that a handful number of companies will get into the business during bad time for liquidity crunch. That’s why there will be more media attention on smaller companies.
“Funding for consumer-oriented Web companies is going away and there will be a lot of opportunities out there,” he further said.
According to rose, most of the famous Web 2.0 based companies like Digg, Flickr facebook were launched during 2004 when it was bad time to get finance. Rose said he lowered the marketing costs as the Digg’s front man and getting his message delivered to iPod MP3 players through Apple’s online iTunes store. Startup Internet companies can get across its audience by posting online blog commentaries regarding competitors or latest issues in the current market. New firms can also rent company Servers and bandwidth in order to cut the cost.
