Flipswap offers a fast, free and “green” way to give your cell phone a second life. There are more than one hundred million working cell phones that become unused every year. Flipswap has created a way to give these cell phones a second life. Both consumers and businesses can exchange their phones for store credit or cash at one of Flipswap’s 4,000 participating retailers; or they can choose to have the money donated to charity. Once collected, Flipswap gives the cell phone to the needy. In 2007 Flipswap recycled enough phones “to keep the equivalent of 50 tons of solid waste, most of it toxic, out of our landfills.”
Mom-and-pop cell phone trade-in businesses are nothing new, especially in the world of e-commerce. What makes Torrance-based Flipswap unique is its software technology, which is currently applied to 2,500 wireless retailers with 10,000 more stores in the pipeline.
Flipswap is going to give you store credit based upon a few questions like “Is the power on? Is the phone water-damaged? Is the screen intact? Type in a model number and phone type and the Web site gives a price.” The credit for 14 month old Motorola razor is $50.
The Web-based application allows wireless retailers to offer store credit upfront on any type of phones customers bring in.
“Our service is completely agnostic in terms of carriers. Someone with a Cingular phone can walk into a Verizon store and get store credit. It fits perfectly with the goal of every carrier to get someone to jump slap from a competing carrier,” said Sohrob Farudi, 30, the company’s chief executive.
They give you what you deserve. The highest trade-in value for your phone and the peace of mind that can only come from working with the best.
