IBM Launched eDiscovery Solution

eDiscovery is a new Enterprise Content Management (ECM) software from IBM which will help companies for their legal discovery requirements. The customer will be able to control the electronically stored information  and reduce their eDiscovery cost for civil litigation. eDiscovery manager combines IBM’s  records management technology, and the vendor’s content-centric business process management (BPM)  capabilities.

Enterprises are compelled to embrace ediscovery because of the latest Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP)  that requires companies to preserve and produce electronically stored information when facing litigation. FRCP is the U.S. federal district court procedures for civil suits.

“We let you handle capture, retention, archiving and content management to manage your content proactively because the information has already been retained, classified and managed,”  says Aaron Brown, program director of IBM Content Discovery.

When lawyers need information relating to a case, they provide the input information such as the subject, a range of dates, and keywords and conducts a search using eDiscovery Manager’s user interface. The product collects relevant information and  marks that information not deletable  due to litigation. Once the information gathering process is over, it is verified and turned over to the legal department.

IBM eDiscovery Manager runs on Windows and AIX, IBM’s version of Unix.
