SAP may Acquire Teradata as per the Speculation
As per latest analyst report, SAP, the leading ERP vendor is considering to buy the Data warehousing company, Teradata. The stock price of Teradata rose by 7 percent on Tuesday at Wall st.
Teradata with a market capitalization of $3.94 billion needs approval from SAP’s supervisory board for further negotiation regarding this matter. SAP executive and former Business Objects’ CEO John Schwarz has previously told his company’s leadership that he believes the area of advanced analytics is one that needs to be filled up. Teradata, which would fill the data warehouse management market where SAP lags, also offers advanced analytics.
One thing to note, however, if SAP is going to acquire Teradata, it has to have a tighter relationship with SAS. In order to speed up the analytical process, last March, SAS announced the plan to integrate analytics software within the Teradata managed servers. While that partnership is non-exclusive, Teradata is currently the only company with which SAS has such an arrangement, a SAS spokeswoman said.
