SAS plane makes 2 unscheduled landings in Norway
OSLO — Scandinavian airline SAS says a plane carrying 41 passengers made two unscheduled landings because of a problem with the flaps.
SAS spokesman Thomas Midteide says the CRJ regional jet was heading from Copenhagen to Aalesund, on Norway’s west coast, Sunday when the pilot decided to land instead in Trondheim to adjust the flaps. The problem meant the plane had to land at high speed and the Aalesund runway was too short.
However, the problem persisted after the plane took off again and the plane was forced to land again in Oslo, where passengers transferred to another plane. Nobody was hurt.
Midteide said Monday the plane is owned by Denmark’s Cimber Air and was flying on contract for SAS. He says Cimber Air will investigate the cause of the malfunction.
