The Latest Inclusion of Corporate IBM Lotus Notes with Nokia Smart Phones to Make It More Competitive with RIM

IBM and Nokia announced today that Nokia Smart Phone users will be able to access Corporate IBM Lotus Notes from next month. Nokia made this announcement with the backdrop of falling demand of mobile phones due to global financial crisis. Some analysts predict that there is a bright future of Smartphone in the coming year.  Nokia sold 1.1 million of its new sleek E71 phones in the third quarter that outsell RIM’s business Blackberry Bold by five-to-one, according to Nokia.

AOL to Scrap Some of Its On Line Services

Aol is cutting down some of its internet services in order to boost the finances. The company is going to put out Bluestring, a site to share videos, music, and photos; Xdrive, a general-purpose online storage service; and AOL Pictures, where people could store and share photos, according to a July 14 memo from Kevin Conroy, AOL’s executive vice president of products and marketing. These services with AIM World and MyMobile will be discontinued because they didn’t get much popularity.

Fring, a Mobile Internet Service, Unveiled Open API

Popular mobile IM and VOIP service Fring just launched an Application Programming Interface that could bring some awesome new applications to mobile phones around the world. Fring offers peer to peer mobile VOIP and allows users to chat, call, and transfer files from mobile to PC or mobile to mobile, completely free of charge, using the mobile devices’ Wi-Fi connection.

Nvidia Launched Tegra Chips for Mobile Computing

Nvidia formally rolled out its Tegra chip, Tegra 600 and Tegra 650 processors on Monday that the company is targeting for the Mobile Internet Device (MID) space. It is an integrated CPU, powering the devices with a long battery life which will facilitate full Internet surfing, game-playing and also high-definition video displays. The price is going to range between $200 and $250.
