The Shareholders of SUN Placed Lawsuit to Block Oracle Acquisition

images Sun Shareholders are not very happy about the recent $7.4 billion proposed acquisition offer from Oracle. They placed three class action lawsuits to block the planned merger with Oracle.  Sun made this disclosure with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Sun Micro did not respond to the complaint. As per an expert, if Oracle is really interested to acquire SUN, the lawsuit may not be a deterrent because Oracle can raise the offer to keep the deal alive.

HP is going to induct EDS at its Technology Solution Group. Initially, HP allowed EDS to run separately from its Technology Solution Group. But, that structure didn’t last long enough. Nortel Added Unified Communication Feature by the Acquisition of Pingtel

Nortel announced that it has acquired Pingtel, an unified communication based software provider and is owned by Bluesocket inc, a mobile solution provider. Financial terms of the deal has not been announced yet. All of the employees of Pingtel will be integrated with Nortel. On the other hand hand, Pingtel is going to add unified communication based portfolio in addition to its research capabilities to Nortel.

Verizon to Acquire Alltel

Verizon is going to buy Alltel equity and debt in a transaction worth $28.1 billion. Verizon will purchase Alltel from TPG Capital and GS Capital Partners, for about $5.9 billion in cash and will assume Alltel’s debt, which is estimated to be $22.2 billion, making the total transaction value $28.1 billion.
