IBM Announced Center for Social Software

The Big Blue unveiled IBM Center for Social Software. The center provides the facility for the experts of IBM to work with clients, partners, university students and faculty. In other word, it will cater as an incubator for the research, development and testing of social software. IBM made some progress in the last few years in the area of  Web 2.0 technologies such as blogs, wikis and social networks.

IBM VC Requested to Make Linux Unique, Less Like Windows

Bob Sutor, IBM’s VP of open source and standards said at the Black Hat conference at Las Vegas that user should pay attention to design Linux interface less like windows. The UI design should comprise some unique and cool features. IBM joined hands with Linux distributors Red Hat, Novell, and Canonical at Linuxworld the day before to build “Microsoft-free PCs for business.”

Microsoft Announces Web Based Software System, Live Mesh

Microsoft’s Live Mesh, in its current preview form, represents an effort to define the Windows operating system as a platform that spans PCs, the Internet, and Windows-capable devices. At its heart, it is a data synchronization service, but it is also a bid to define Microsoft as the source of cloud computing. Microsoft, it seems, is embracing software as a service, rather than as a reason to commit to Windows.
