IBM Launched SaaS version of Lotus Notes Domino

Big Blue released this week Lotus Notes Hosted Messaging service, a hosted version of corporate email service, Lotus Notes/ Domino. The company is going to charge $10 per user for the service. The service will also provide spam and virus filtering, backup and restore services and 1GB mailbox. It is expected to compete with Google gmail and Microsoft Exchange online.

Cisco and Microsoft Launched New Windows Server Product

Cisco and Microsoft jointly unveiled new product Windows Server on WAAS. The company can deploy corporate applications and infrastructure services across branch and data center with the help of this product which is an integration of Windows Server 2008 with the Cisco Wide Area Application Services (WAAS).

Water Based Data Center: New Idea of Google

Google applied for a patent for an innovative concept: Wave Powered Data Center. The data center consists a system that includes a floating platform-mounted computer data center. The data center consists a number of computing units, a sea-based electrical generator that provides electrical connection for those computing units, and one or more sea-water cooling units for providing cooling to those computing units.

IBM Rolled Out Next Generation Smart Tool for Data Center Management

IBM recently announced new smart dashboard solution IBM Systems Director 6.1 for Data Center Management. This is also part of IBM’s New Enterprise Data Center strategy to streamline Data Center operation. The software will help clients to view, maintain and adjust the energy consumption, performance, and hardware utilization of their multi-system, virtualized environment from a single window.
