PC Tools iAntiVirus provides real-time protection and comprehensive system scanning to ensure your Mac remains safe and virus free. The beta version is free to download, though there’s a $49.95 charge for commercial or supported use. Once your computer has been infected, a virus or worm will usually attempt to spread itself to your friends, family and associates by accessing your email contacts and networked PCs. The infection may also allow hackers to access files on your Mac, use it as a zombie to launch attacks against other computers and websites or to send mass SPAM email.

Norton Safe Web Launches Beta

Symantec on Monday opened public beta testing of a new plug-in called Norton Safe Web. The tool is used to rate a website that will let people easily see what sites are legitimate and which are malicious. It is also going to warn the users before they are able to open a malicious site. The software itself is available only for Norton users, but they are also offering a manual service in which you can submit a site to see if any information is available on it.
