IBM VC Requested to Make Linux Unique, Less Like Windows

Bob Sutor, IBM’s VP of open source and standards said at the Black Hat conference at Las Vegas that user should pay attention to design Linux interface less like windows. The UI design should comprise some unique and cool features. IBM joined hands with Linux distributors Red Hat, Novell, and Canonical at Linuxworld the day before to build “Microsoft-free PCs for business.”

Trackvia Raises Series A for Point and click Database

Microsoft Tests SaaS with Office Subscription

Microsoft (NSDQ:MSFT) on Wednesday unveiled Equipt, formerly named Albany,  a subscription-based service that bundles together Office applications, Windows Live OneCare security software, and Office Live Workspace, the Web-based extension of Office for sharing and storing documents. Subscription pricing for software has become commonplace in businesses but is a relatively new concept for consumers.

New Hybrid Search Engine, Paglo Released

Based on the popular Web 2.0 infrastructure, Paglo’s software-as-a-service (Saas) was first introduced to the public in November, but today marks the first day it is available for public use. The service will be available for free until the fall, when Paglo says it will implement a paid model.

47% of Adult US Uses Search Engines (Google?) for Information

According to the latest report published by Pew Internet and American Life Project, 47 percent of U.S. adult Internet users have looked for information through Google or other search engine. That is more than twice the 22 percent of users in 2002. Also it appears majority are Googling their neighbors. The study says:
