DNS Bug is Fixed to Patch the Internet

Makers of the software used to connect computers on the Internet collectively released software updates Tuesday to patch a serious bug in one of the Internet’s underlying protocols, the Domain Name System (DNS). The bug was discovered “by complete accident,” by Dan Kaminsky, a researcher with security vendor IOActive. Kaminsky, a former employee of Cisco Systems.

Microsoft Warns Active X Control Attacks in Access

Microsoft issued a security advisory specific to its database program in Microsoft Office. The exploit permits “limited targeted attacks leveraging a potential vulnerability in the ActiveX control” for certain components of Microsoft Access.

Microsoft Warned Windows Users for the Security Lapse of Safari

Microsoft warned on Friday that Apple’s Safari Web browser for Windows exposes PCs to a security hole that permits potentially malicious files to be downloaded to a user’s machine and run without prompting the user.
